I’m Joshua Ziese, and my life is deeply rooted right here in El Dorado Hills. As a local father, husband, school volunteer, youth sports coach, and HOA board member, I care about this community. Lately, we have faced some challenging times—from financial and legal hardships to mismanaged projects and controversial land purchases that have brought negative headlines. But I know we can do better. Today, we are having crucial conversations about our growth, our parks and recreation, our fiscal priorities, and even the possibility of cityhood. We have a real opportunity right now to learn from the past, rebuild trust, and shape a solid vision for our future. That is exactly why I am running, and why I am ready to work for you.
Our community has faced some real financial challenges recently, and I believe it is time for true fiscal oversight and accountability. We have seen our hard-earned resources stretched thin—from high legal costs spent contesting ballot measures that impact our CSD revenues, to debatable land purchases that leave many of us asking questions. At the same time, trying to fund all the services we want and need has put a serious strain on our General Fund budget. I am committed to bringing careful stewardship back to our local government. I will fight to ensure that every dollar is managed responsibly, transparently, and always with the best interests of our community at heart. Together, we can get our budget back on track.
For too long, our community has seen exciting proposals for our undeveloped parks lead to unfulfilled commitments because those plans simply weren't feasible. We deserve better than empty promises. Right now, our community's masterplan is under development, giving us a perfect opportunity to get this right. I want to build strong coalitions of local stakeholders to engage with and inform the Board on our real priorities for park development. My focus will be on bringing people together to conduct realistic feasibility analyses and create solid, actionable development plans. By working together and staying grounded in what is actually possible, we can finally turn these exciting visions for our parks into a reality we can all enjoy.
For too long, El Dorado Hills has been in the news for the wrong reasons. We have seen back-door decision-making, criminal allegations, and a breakdown in trust with prior Boards that has tarnished the image of the community we love. I am running to change that. My focus is on rebuilding that lost trust and bringing real transparency back to our local government. I believe you deserve to know how decisions are made, and you deserve a voice in shaping our future. By opening the doors, improving communication, and fostering active community involvement, we can restore integrity to our leadership. Together, we can move past the headlines and build a stronger, more connected El Dorado Hills.
